London Zoo

From Citypedia London

London Zoo houses a collection of more than 650 different species of animals, and is at the northern end of Regent's Park, a short walk from Camden Underground Station.

London Zoo was the world's first scientific zoo, opened in 1828. It was originally intended to be used for scientific study, but was open to the public in 1847.

The Zoo is managed by The Zoological Society of London, who also have a larger site at Whipsnade Wild Animal Park in Bedfordshire where larger animals such as elephants and rhinos are kept.

Nearest Tube: Camden Town (Northern Line)
