London Bridge

From Citypedia London

London Bridge is a bridge over the River Thames, and the first bridge to be built in the city. It was the only bridge over the Thames in London until Westminster Bridge was opened in 1750.

In 1968 the previous London Bridge was sold to the American entrepreneur Robert P. McCulloch of McCulloch Oil for the sum of $2,460,000. It has been claimed that he bought the bridge thinking he was buying Tower Bridge, though McCulloch himself strongly denied this. The bridge was reconstructed at Lake Havasu City, Arizona.
